The Toronto Argonauts signed defensive back Anthony Sao on Tuesday.
Anthony Sao is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 24-year-old from Compton, California, signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Falcons released him on June 11, 2024.
Collegiately, Sao played five seasons at MidAmerican Nazarene University (2019-23) making 112 tackles (86 solos, 26 solos), 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions for 108 yards, 17 pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 33 games for the Pioneers.
In 2023, he made 24 tackles (19 solos, 5 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 7 games. He was named First Team All-Heart South Conference in 2022 after making 40 tackles (31 solos, 9 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions for seven yards, and four pass breakups in 10 games.
