The Memphis Showboats signed tight end Jacob Warren and released linebacker Jackson Mitchell on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page. According to Pro Football Newsroom writer James Larsen, Mitchell is signing with the Carolina Panthers.

Jacob Warren is six foot six and weighs 261 pounds. The 24-year-old from Knoxville, Tennessee, signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Warren played in three preseason games recording no stats. The Patriots released him on August 26, 2024.

Collegiately, Warren played five seasons at Tennessee (2019-23) making 53 catches for 607 yards, and eight touchdowns in 54 games for the Volunteers. In 2023, he made 16 catches for 191 yards and four touchdowns.

Jackson Mitchell is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 23-year-old from Ridgefield, Connecticut, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in one preseason game.

The Panthers released him on August 16, 2024. Next, he was claimed off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders on August 18, 2024. He made one tackle (1 solo) in one preseason game. The Raiders released him on August 27, 2024, and he re-signed with the Carolina Panthers on October 1, 2024. The Panthers released him again on November 5, 2024. The Memphis Showboats signed Mitchell on December 17, 2024.

Collegiately, Mitchell played four seasons at Connecticut (2019, 2021-23) making 438 tackles (186 solos, 252 assists), 25 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three interceptions for six yards, 10 pass breakups, six forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns in 47 games for the Huskies. In 2022, he was a Butkus Award Semifinalist.
