The D.C. Defenders signed defensive end Quincy Roche on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Quincy Roche is six foot three and weighs 243 pounds. The 26-year-old from Randallstown, Maryland, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round (216th pick) of the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2021, he made five tackles (3 solos, 2 assists) and 1.5 sacks in four preseason games. The Steelers released him on August 31, 2019.
The New York Giants claimed Roche via waivers on September 1, 2019. Roche played two seasons in New York making 40 tackles (23 solos, 17 assists), five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 17 games. He became a free agent after the 2022 season. Roche would also spend time with the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens.
Collegiately, Roche played four seasons at Temple (2016-19) making 137 tackles (102 solos, 35 assists), 39.5 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, seven pass breakups, six forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and three blocked kicks in 39 games for the Owls. He was named First Team All-AAC (2019) and AAC Defensive Player of the Year (2019).
Then, he transferred to Miami (FL) in 2020 making 45 tackles (27 solos, 18 assists), 14.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 10 games for the Hurricanes. He was named Third Team All-ACC.
