The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed linebackers Justin Herdman-Reed and Jordan Herdman-Reed to one-year contract extensions through the 2025 season on Tuesday.
Justin Herdman-Reed is six foot and weighs 223 pounds. The 30-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, made 16 tackles on special teams in 16 games in 2024.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Herdman-Reed in the seventh round (54th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. He played three seasons for the Argonauts with 43 tackles, 26 tackles on special teams, two sacks, and two forced fumbles in 40 games.
He is a member of the Toronto Argonauts 2017 Grey Cup championship team. In 2020, Herdman-Reed signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but the season was canceled, and never played a game for them.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Herdman-Reed on February 9, 2021. In 2023, he made three tackles and ten tackles on special teams in 11 games. In four seasons, Herdman-Reed has made 10 tackles and 41 tackles on special teams in 54 games.
Collegiately, Herdman-Reed played four seasons at Simon Fraser University (2013-16) making 82 tackles (43 solos, 39 assists), 14 tackles for loss, half a sack, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 23 games for the Red Leafs.
Jordan Herdman-Reed is six foot and weighs 235 pounds. The 30-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 13, 2024. In 2024, he made eight tackles on special teams in eight games.
The B.C. Lions drafted Herdman-Reed in the seventh round (60th pick) in the 2017 CFL Draft. He played three seasons in British Columbia making 95 tackles, 44 tackles on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble in 52 games.
Then, Herdman-Reed signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 9, 2021. He played two seasons in Saskatchewan with one tackle and six tackles on special teams in 17 games. The Calgary Stampeders signed Herdman-Reed as a free agent on May 24, 2023. In 2023, he made ten tackles on special teams in 16 games.
