Former New Jersey Generals linebacker Bryson Young announced his retirement on Friday.
Bryson Young is six foot five and weighs 250 pounds. The 26-year-old from Clovis, California, was drafted by the Houston Roughnecks in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. The Roughnecks released him on March 10, 2024.
The Atlanta Falcons signed Young as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2020. There were no preseason games in 2020 due to COVID-19, and he was released on August 4, 2020. Next, he signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on February 2, 2021. He spent most of the season on the practice squad and the Redblacks released him on July 15, 2021.
Then, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals on August 16, 2021. The Cardinals released him on August 30, 2021. The New Jersey Generals drafted Young in the second round (13th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 19 tackles (8 solos, 11 assists), three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in ten games.
In the 2022 USFL playoffs, Young made two tackles (2 solos) against the Philadelphia Stars in the North Divisional Finals. In 2023, Young made 29 tackles (21 solos, 8 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in ten games.
Collegiately, Young played four seasons at the University of Oregon (2016-19) making 73 tackles (30 solos, 43 assists), six tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 49 games for the Ducks.
