San Antonio Brahmas running back John Lovett will play for the team in 2025 according to Alternative Football Network writer Avion Plummer on Thursday.
John Lovett is five foot eleven and weighs 215 pounds. The 24-year-old from Burlington City, New Jersey, was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, Lovett had 103 carries for 422 yards, 5 touchdowns, 17 catches for 56 yards, and one touchdown in 8 games.
In the 2024, UFL playoffs, Lovett had 19 carries for 83 yards in two games leading the Brahmas to the UFL Championship Game against the Birmingham Stallions. Lovett re-signed with the Brahmas on August 27, 2024.
Lovett signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and spent most of the season on the practice squad. The Vegas Vipers drafted Lovett in the second round (12th pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft.
In 2023, Lovett had 59 carries for 227 yards, three touchdowns, 14 catches for 269 yards, and two touchdowns in ten games for the Vegas Vipers (XFL) in 2023. After the season, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers but did not play in the preseason.
Collegiately, Lovett played four seasons at Baylor (2017-20) with 355 carries for 1,803 yards, 17 touchdowns, 29 catches for 183 yards, one touchdown, 15 kick returns for 283 yards, and four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) in 42 games for the Bears.
Then, Lovett transferred to Penn State in 2021 with 52 carries for 177 yards, nine catches for 36 yards, and four kick returns for 63 yards in nine games for the Nittany Lions.
