Massachusetts Pirates sign QB Kenji Bahar, re-sign WR Teo Redding

The Massachusetts Pirates signed quarterback Kenji Bahar and re-signed Teo Redding on Thursday according to the IFL Transactions page.

Kenji Bajar is six foot three and weighs 200 pounds. The 27-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, was released by the Houston Roughnecks on January 25, 2024. Bajar re-signed with Houston on April 10, 2024. He dressed for one game in 2024 but did not see any action. The Roughnecks released him on May 7, 2024.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Bajar as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2021, but released him a month later. The Toronto Argonauts signed Bajar on June 21, 2021. He spent a month on the practice squad before they released him on July 20, 2021, and he re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens on July 28, 2021.

In 2021, he played one preseason game with two carries for -3 yards. The Ravens released him on August 24, 2021. The Houston Gamblers drafted Bajar in the 12th round (97th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft.

In 2022, Bajar completed 61 of 100 passes (61%) for 541 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and 20 carries for 87 yards in seven games, of which three were starts for the Gamblers. In 2023, he completed 157 of 253 passes (62.1%) for 1,709 yards, 8 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and 23 carries for 68 yards in nine games.

Collegiately, Bajar played four seasons at Monmouth (2016-19) completing 798 of 1,290 passes (62%) for 9,642 yards, 70 touchdowns, 34 interceptions, 206 carries for 333 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one catch for 15 yards in 48 games for the Hawks.

He was named First Team All-Big South and Big South Player of the Year in 2019. He set all but one career passing record at Monmouth including, touchdowns, completions, yardage, 300-yard games, attempts, and efficiency.

Teo Redding is six foot one and weighs 176 pounds. The 30-year-old from Warren, Michigan, signed with the Massachusetts Pirates on March 15, 2024. In 2024, Redding made 61 catches for 729 yards and 15 touchdowns in 19 games.

The Detroit Lions signed Redding as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018. In 2018, Redding made four catches for 74 yards, one kick return for 16 yards, and two punt returns for two yards in four games. The Lions released him on August 31, 2018. In 2021, he spent time on the Washington Redskins and the Green Bay Packers practice squad.

The Montreal Alouettes signed Redding on December 18, 2020. There was no preseason in 2021 due to COVID-19 and the Alouettes released him on July 17, 2021. Next, Redding played for the Massachusetts Pirates in 2022 making three catches for 17 yards in one game. The Houston Gamblers drafted Redding in the eighth round (344th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft.

In 2022, Redding made 17 catches for 249 yards, and one touchdown in seven games, of which six were starts for Houston. In 2023, he made 13 catches for 156 yards in ten games. The Roughnecks released him on March 10, 2024.

Collegiately, Redding played four seasons at Bowling Green (2014-17) making 94 catches for 1,328 yards, 14 touchdowns, one kick return for 13 yards, and two punt returns for seven yards in 44 games for the Falcons. He was named Second Team All-MAC in 2017.
