Memphis Showboats defensive back T.J. Green announced his retirement via his Instagram account on Saturday.

T.J. Green is six foot two and weighs 209 pounds. The 29-year-old from Sylacauga, Alabama, was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round (57th pick) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Indianapolis making 88 tackles (63 solos, 25 assists), five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and three pass breakups in 31 games, of which 11 were starts. The Colts released him on September 6, 2018.

After Indianapolis, Green spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, and the Houston Texans. Green played an additional 10 games making 15 tackles (10 solos, 5 assists), and one pass breakup.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Green to the practice squad on September 27, 2022. He spent a month on the practice squad when the Roughriders released him on October 26, 2022. Next, Green was drafted by the Arlington Renegades in the 10th round (75th pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft but he chose to sign with the Birmingham Stallions on December 16, 2022. In 2023, Green made seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) in three games. The Stallions released him on May 2, 2023.

Shortly after his release, the Memphis Showboats signed him on May 11, 2023. He made 14 tackles (8 solos, 6 assists), one tackle for loss, and one interception in four games. He returned to play for the Showboats in 2024. In 2024, Green made 44 tackles (31 solos, 13 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in nine games.

Collegiately, Green played three seasons at Clemson (2013-15) making 118 tackles (84 solos, 34 assists), six tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and 24 kick returns for 505 yards in 26 games for the Tigers.
