The Ottawa Redblacks and defensive back Justin Howell agreed to a contract extension on Tuesday.

Justin Howell is five foot ten and weighs 199 pounds. The 31-year-old from Bradford, Ontario, re-signed with the Redblacks on February 6, 2024. In 2024, Howell made seven tackles and four tackles on special teams in 13 games.

The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Howell in the seventh round (55th pick) in the 2018 CFL Draft. In 2023, he made 39 tackles and one forced fumble in 13 games. In six seasons with the Redblacks, Howell has made 106 tackles, 31 tackles on special teams, one sack, and five forced fumbles in 73 games.

Collegiately, Howell played four seasons at Carleton University (2014-17) making 101 tackles (71 solos, 30 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, one interception for 27 yards, and six pass breakups in 23 games for the Ravens.
