Michigan Panthers sign RB Jaden Shirden and WR Malik Turner

The Michigan Panthers signed running back Jaden Shirden and wide receiver Malik Turner on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Jaden Shirden is five foot nine and weighs 195 pounds. The 22-year-old from West Haven, Connecticut, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, Shirden had 17 carries for 47 yards and three catches for 42 yards in two preseason games. The Panthers released him on August 27, 2024.

Collegiately, Shirden played three seasons at Monmouth (2021-23) with 504 carries for 3,697 yards, 26 touchdowns, 25 catches for 158 yards, one touchdown, and one kick return for no yards in 33 games for the Hawks. He was named First Team All-CAA in 2022, and First Team FCS All-American in 2023. His 3,697 rushing yards rank third in program history.

Malik Turner is six foot two and weighs 202 pounds. The 28-year-old from Springfield, Illinois, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on July 29, 2018. He played two seasons in Seattle making 17 catches for 265 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 21 games. The Green Bay Packers signed Turner on August 12, 2020. There were no preseason games played and Turner was released by the Packers on September 5, 2020.

The Dallas Cowboys acquired Turner via waivers on September 6, 2020. Turner played two seasons in Dallas making 12 catches for 149 yards, three touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 20 games. The San Franciso 49ers signed Turner on April 11, 2022. In 2022, Turner appeared in three games making two tackles (2 solos).

Turner also had stints with the Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, and the Indianapolis Colts before returning to the 49ers on July 25, 2024. In 2024, Turner spent the majority of the season on the practice squad. The 49ers released him on November 6, 2024.

Collegiately, Turner played four seasons at Illinois (2014-17) making 143 catches for 1,804 yards, 10 touchdowns, two carries for five yards, one punt return for eight yards, and four tackles (4 solos) in 46 games for the Fighting Illini.
