The Edmonton Elks released wide receiver Dillion Mitchell on Friday.
Dillon Mitchell is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. The 27-year-old from Memphis, Tennessee, made 58 catches for 727 yards, four touchdowns, one carry for 10 yards, 23 kick returns for 535 yards, and 19 punt returns for 172 yards in 18 games.
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Mitchell in the seventh round (239th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2019, Mitchell made one catch for 10 yards, two kick returns for 46 yards, and two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in four preseason games. He spent the season on the practice squad.
In 2020, there were no preseason games due to COVID-19, and Mitchell was released on September 5, 2020. The Edmonton Elks signed Mitchell on July 29, 2022. In 2022, Mitchell made 35 catches for 637 yards, four touchdowns, one carry for 13 yards, and two kick returns for 36 yards in nine games. In 2023, he made 37 catches for 532 yards and four touchdowns in 18 games.
Collegiately, Mitchell played three seasons at Oregon (2016-18) making 119 catches for 1,710 yards, 14 touchdowns, five carries for 11 yards, three kick returns for 49 yards, and 21 punt returns for 125 yards in 31 games for the Ducks.
In the 2018 Redbox Bowl, Mitchell had six catches for 70 yards, and one touchdown in a 7-6 win over Michigan State and was named Offensive MVP. He was named Second Team All-Pac 12 in 2018.
