The Penn State Nittany Lions (13-3) took on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-1) on Thursday night in the Capital One Orange Bowl from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Notre Dame kicker Mitch Jeter kicked the game-winning 41-yard field goal with seven seconds left as the Fighting Irish defeated the Nittany Lions 27-24 to advance to the CFP National Championship Game on Monday, January 20, 2025, from Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Notre Dame had 383 yards on offense (267 yards passing, 116 yards rushing), and 23 first downs. Quarterback Riley Leonard completed 15 of 23 passes (65.2%) for 223 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, 18 carries for 35 yards, and one touchdown. Running back Jeremiyah Love had 11 carries for 45 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for six yards.

Wide receiver Jaden Greathouse made seven catches for 105 yards, and one touchdown, while Aneyas Williams made five catches for 66 yards, and two carries for 17 yards. Kicker Mitch Jeter made two field goals. Notre Dame’s defense made 70 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and one interception.

Penn State had 339 yards on offense (135 yards passing, 204 yards rushing), and 20 first downs. Quarterback Drew Allar completed 12 of 23 passes (52.2%) for 135 yards, one interception, and six carries for 25 yards. Running back Nicholas Singleton had 15 carries for 84 yards, three touchdowns, and two catches for 33 yards.

Tight end Tyler Warren made six catches for 75 yards, and two carries for 21 yards, while Khalil Dinkins made two catches for 21 yards. Kicker Ryan Barker made one field goal for 20 yards. Penn State’s defense made 72 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
