The Winnipeg Blue Bombers named Jim Jauch, Eric Deslauriers, and Brock Sunderland to the scouting staff on Friday. All three will hold the titles of Senior Director of Player Personnel.
“All three of these individuals have experience in scouting and finding talented football players,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “We are very pleased to add them all to our scouting group, having them work closely with Danny McManus, and look forward to training camp in May.”
Jim Jauch is 59 years old and is from Iowa City, Iowa. He previously spent three seasons as the director of U.S. scouting for the B.C. Lions. His father, Ray, was a player and coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Jauch began as a college scout for the San Diego Chargers in 1994.
In 2006, he joined the Cleveland Browns where he was the associate director of college and pro scouting until 2010. He returned to the Chargers from 2010-14, and later with the New York Jets in 2018 as a national scout. He became the director of pro scouting with the Toronto Argonauts before joining the B.C. Lions.
As a player, Jauch played five years in the CFL for the Calgary Stampeders (1989), Edmonton Eskimos (1990-91), and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1992-93) making five tackles, 21 tackles on special teams, four kick returns for 40 yards, and one interception in 53 games.
Eric Deslauriers is 43 years old and is from Gatineau, Quebec. Deslauriers previously was the senior director of football operations/player personnel for the Montreal Alouettes. He joined Montreal in 2016 as a draft coordinator until 2018. He was promoted to football operations director in 2019.
As a player, Deslauriers played nine seasons all with the Montreal Alouettes making 99 catches for 1,334 yards, three touchdowns, five tackles, 14 tackles on special teams, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 115 games. He won two Grey Cup championships in 2009-10 as a player, and in 2023 in the personal department.
Brock Sunderland is 45 years old and is from Great Falls, Montana. He previously was the Edmonton Elks General Manager from 2017 to 2021. Before the CFL, Sunderland was a regional/advance scout, followed by the director of scouting for the Montreal Alouettes (2004-07).
Then, he was a pro scout for the New York Jets from 2008-12 before becoming an assistant general manager of the Ottawa Redblacks from 2013-16. In his final season in Ottawa, the Redblacks won the 105th Grey Cup over the Calgary Stampeders before leaving for Edmonton.
