The Saskatchewan Roughriders and linebacker Jameer Thurman agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season on Monday.
Jameer Thurman is six foot and weighs 227 pounds. The 29-year-old from Chicago, Illinois, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 13, 2024. In 2024, Thurman made 76 tackles, two tackles on special teams, one sack, two interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble, in 17 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star.
Thurman played two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders making 134 tackles, 29 tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles in 35 games. The Stampeders released him on January 3, 2019. Next, Thurman signed with the Chicago Bears on January 4, 2019. In 2019, he made 18 tackles (15 solos, 3 assists) in four preseason games. The Bears released him on August 31, 2019.
The D.C. Defenders (XFL) drafted Thurman in the sixth round (44th pick) of the 2020 XFL Draft. In 2020, he made 33 tackles (20 solos, 13 assists), and one interception for 46 yards in five games before the league suspended operations due to COVID-19. Then, Thurman signed with the Calgary Stampeders on January 19, 2021.
Thurman played an additional two seasons in Calgary making 135 tackles, two tackles on special teams, three sacks, three interceptions, and five forced fumbles in 29 games. He signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on February 15, 2023. He made 98 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 18 games.
Collegiately, Thurman played four seasons at Indiana State (2013-16) with 340 tackles (172 solos, 168 assists), 28 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five interceptions for 70 yards, one touchdown, 14 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries in 48 games for the Sycamores.
