The Saskatchewan Roughriders and linebacker Malik Carney agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Monday.
Malik Carney is six foot three and weighs 245 pounds. The 29-year-old from Alexandria, Virginia, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 13, 2024. In 2024, Carney made 26 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble in 13 games.
The Detroit Lions signed Carney as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2019. In 2019, Carney made 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists), and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Lions released him on August 31, 2019. In the regular season, he spent time on the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos practice squads.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Carney as a free agent on January 18, 2021. In his rookie season, Carney had three tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one sack in four games in 2021.
