The D.C. Defenders signed running back Trenton Cannon on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Trenton Cannon is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 30-year-old from Hampton, Virginia, was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round (204th pick) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and Tennessee Titans. Cannon played five seasons in the NFL with 51 carries for 150 yards, one touchdown, 20 catches for 160 yards, 34 kick returns for 775 yards, and 29 tackles (22 solos, 7 assists) in 48 games.
Collegiately, Cannon played one season at Shepherd University in 2014 with 47 carries for 216 yards, two touchdowns, and three catches for 28 yards in six games for the Rams.
Then, he transferred to Virginia State University (2015-17) with 554 carries for 4,030 yards, 44 touchdowns, completing 2 of 2 passes (100%) for 71 yards, one touchdown, 48 catches for 610 yards, seven touchdowns, 45 kick returns for 1,407 yards, three touchdowns, two punt returns for 15 yards, and four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in 32 games for the Trojans.
