The Houston Roughnecks signed defensive tackle Shakel Brown on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Shakel Brown is six foot three and weighs 295 pounds. The 26-year-old from Miami, Florida, signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he injured his ankle and did not play in the preseason. The Titans released him on May 7, 2024. The San Francisco 49ers signed Brown on May 14, 2024.
In 2024, Brown made two tackles (2 assists), and two pass breakups in three preseason games. The 49ers released him on October 1, 2024, and he signed with the Miami Dolphins on October 30, 2024.
Collegiately, Brown started at Highlands Community College in 2018 but did not play a game for the Scotties. Next, he transferred to Itawamba Community College in 2019 making 11 tackles (7 solos, 4 assists), and 2.5 tackles for loss in eight games for the Indians.
Then, he transferred to Troy (2020-22) making 58 tackles (20 solos, 38 assists), eight tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 29 games for the Trojans.
