The Memphis Showboats signed offensive lineman Nate Gilliam on Thursday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Nate Gilliam is six foot five and weighs 300 pounds. The 27-year-old from Knoxville, Tennessee, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2020. There were no preseason games played in 2020 due to the pandemic.
He spent over a year on the practice squad before the Chargers released him on October 26, 2021. He also spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Collegiately, Gilliam played four seasons at Wake Forest (2016-19) playing center and guard in 47 games for the Demon Deacons. In 2019, Wake Forest averaged 31.85 points per game, 175.7 rushing yards per game, 288.31 passing yards per game, 464.0 total yards per game, and 49 touchdowns finishing 8-5 for the season losing to Michigan State in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.
