The Toronto Argonauts re-signed offensive lineman John Bosse and signed defensive lineman DeShawn McCarthy on Thursday.
John Bosse is six foot four and weighs 335 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Myers, Florida, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the third round (25th pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft.
In 2024, Bosse played two preseason games and two regular season games before spending the rest of the season on the practice squad when Toronto won the 111th Grey Cup championship over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Argonauts released him on November 18, 2024.
Collegiately, Bosse played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2019, 2021-23) playing 29 games for the Dinos making one tackle (1 solo). He was part of the Dinos 2019 Vanier Cup Championship team defeating the University of Montreal.
DeShawn McCarthy is six foot four and weighs 265 pounds. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, McCarthy went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp in 2024.
Collegiately, McCarthy played four seasons at East Stroudsburg State (2019, 2021-23) making 138 tackles (84 solos, 54 assists), 51 tackles for loss, 31 sacks, 14 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 43 games for the Warriors. In 2023, he made 32 tackles (17 solos, 15 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, and five pass breakups in 12 games.
He was named a three-time First Team All-PSAC East (2021-23), First Team All-American by AFCA in 2021, two-time D2Football.com Elite 100 (2021-22), and was twice on the Shrine Bowl 1,000 list (2022-23).
