The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and defensive lineman Jake Thomas agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Thursday.

Jake Thomas is six foot two and weighs 274 pounds. The 34-year-old from Douglas, New Brunswick, made 23 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble in 18 games for the Blue Bombers in 2024 helping them reach their fifth consecutive Grey Cup appearance.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers drafted Thomas in the fourth round (29th pick) in the 2012 CFL Draft. In 2023, Thomas made 17 tackles and five sacks in 18 games.

Thomas helped the Blue Bombers win two Grey Cup championships in 2019 and 2021. In twelve seasons in Winnipeg, Thomas has made 189 tackles, four tackles on special teams, 33 sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles in 205 games.

Collegiately, Thomas played four seasons at Acadia University (2008-11) making 138 tackles (85 solos, 53 assists), 33 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 32 games for the Axemen.
