The Edmonton Elks released defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy on Friday.
Loucheiz Purifoy is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 32-year-old from Cantonment, Florida, made 45 tackles, three tackles on special teams, one sack, and five interceptions in 16 games on his way to being named a CFL West All-Star.
The Indianapolis Colts signed Purifoy as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2014. He played one season in Indianapolis making seven tackles (6 solos, 1 assist) in 11 games. The Colts released him on November 27, 2014. The Seattle Seahawks acquired Purifoy via waivers on November 28, 2014. The Seahawks released him on December 1, 2014.
The B.C. Lions signed Purifoy on March 21, 2016. He played two seasons making 92 tackles, eight tackles on special teams, five sacks, four interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 36 games.
Then, Purifoy signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on February 13, 2018. He made 29 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble in seven games. The Redblacks released him on August 6, 2018. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Purifoy on August 7, 2018.
Purifoy played two and a half seasons in Saskatchewan making 123 tackles, 13 tackles on special teams, two sacks, eight interceptions, and one forced fumble in 40 games. In B.C. Lions signed Purifoy on February 8, 2022.
In 2022, Purifoy made 55 tackles, nine tackles on special teams, one sack, and three interceptions in 18 games for the B.C. Lions. Purifoy was named a CFL All-Star and CFL West All-Star.
The Edmonton Elks signed Purifoy on January 9, 2023. In 2023, Purifoy made 49 tackles, three interceptions, and two touchdowns in 15 games.
Collegiately, Purifoy played three seasons at the University of Florida (2011-13) making 102 tackles (69 solos, 33 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions for 42 yards, one touchdown, 14 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three blocked kicks, two carries for 23 yards, one catch for five yards, 11 kick returns for 249 yards, and three punt returns for 35 yards in 37 games for the Gators.
