
The Ottawa Redblacks and defensive back Alonzo Addae agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season on Friday. Addae was scheduled to be a free agent next month.
Alonzo Addae is five foot eleven and weighs 192 pounds. The 27-year-old from Pickering, Ontario, made 37 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and two interceptions in 14 games in 2024.
The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Addae in the second round (13th pick) of the 2021 CFL Draft. He did not play for the Redblacks in 2021 as he returned to West Virginia to play in his final collegiate season.
In 2022, he made 28 tackles, and one tackle on special teams in 11 games. In 2023, he made 25 tackles, seven tackles on special teams, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles in 18 games.
Collegiately, Addae played two seasons at New Hampshire (2017-18) making 61 tackles (42 solos, 19 assists), 10 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Wildcats.
Then, he transferred to West Virginia (2020-21) making 139 tackles (83 solos, 56 assists), five tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions for 22 yards, 10 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 23 games for the Mountaineers. He was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in 2021.
