B.C. Lions linebacker Boseko Lokombo announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Boseko Lokombo is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 34-year-old from Kinshasa, Zaire, made 30 tackles, one tackle on special teams, three sacks, and one forced fumble in 14 games for the Lions in 2024.

The B.C. Lions drafted Lokombo in the third round (21st pick) in the 2013 CFL Draft but returned to Oregon for his final season. After going undrafted in the NFL in 2014, Lokombo signed with the Lions. In his rookie season, he made nine tackles in seven games.

Lokombo spent three seasons in his first stint in British Columbia making 35 tackles, 44 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 43 games. He was named a CFL West All-Star in 2015 after making 48 tackles and one sack in 18 games. The Lions released him on January 30, 2017, to pursue an opportunity in the NFL.

In 2017, Lokombo spent time on the Baltimore Ravens, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers practice squads. The Lions re-signed Lokombo on May 8, 2018. In 2018, he made 71 tackles, 16 tackles on special teams, four sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 18 games.

The Montreal Alouettes signed Lokombo on February 13, 2019. In 2019, he made 59 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 15 games. In 2020, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts but the season was canceled due to COVID-19. The Argonauts released him on February 1, 2021.

The B.C. Lions signed Lokombo on February 1, 2021. In 2021, he made 66 tackles, 11 tackles on special teams, four sacks, three interceptions, one touchdown, and one forced fumble in 14 games. In 2022, he made 42 tackles, 10 tackles on special teams, and two sacks in 12 games.

In 2023, Lokombo made 75 tackles, two tackles on special teams, three sacks, one interception, and one touchdown in 16 games.

In nine seasons in the CFL, Lokombo made 370 tackles, 92 tackles on special teams, 17 sacks, eight interceptions, one touchdown, and four forced fumbles in 129 games. He won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian Award and the Dr. Beattie Martin Trophy in 2021.

Collegiately, Lokombo played four seasons at Oregon (2010-13) making 171 tackles (100 solos, 71 assists), 17 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five interceptions for 137 yards, two touchdowns, 16 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries in 53 games for the Ducks. In his final season, he made 63 tackles, three sacks, one interception, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 13 games.
