The Arlington Renegades are set to sign defensive back Chris Claybrooks on Tuesday according to Pro Football Newsroom writer James Larsen.
Chris Claybrooks is five foot nine and weighs 180 pounds. The 26-year-old from Nashville, Tennessee, was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round (223rd pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Claybrooks played three seasons in Jacksonville making 81 tackles (60 solos, 21 assists), one tackle for loss, five pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 22 kick returns for 454 yards, and three punt returns for 12 yards in 46 games, of which six were starts. In 2023, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games.
Collegiately, Claybrooks played one season at Fort Scott Community College as a wide receiver in 2016 making 40 catches for 421 yards, four touchdowns, one carry for two yards, nine kick returns for 200 yards, 10 punt returns for 136 yards, and one touchdown in seven games for the Greyhounds.
Next, he transferred to Coahoma Community College in 2017 making two catches for 23 yards, one kick return for five yards, and one punt return for one yard in one game for the Tigers.
Then, he transferred to Memphis (2018-19) switching to play defensive back making 54 tackles (43 solos, 11 assists), half a tackle for loss, half a sack, two interceptions for 37 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 21 games for the Tigers.
