The Calgary Stampeders signed defensive linemen Josh Carr Jr., Savion Jackson, Alex Nobles and Shaun Peterson Jr. on Tuesday.
Joshua Carr Jr. is six foot four and weighs 245 pounds. The 25-year-old from Houston, Texas, attended the New England Patriots rookie minicamp in 2024.
Collegiately, Carr Jr. played two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana (2018-19) making 56 tackles (25 solos, 31 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 22 games for the Lions. He was named first Team All-American by HERO Sports in 2019.
Then, Carr Jr. transferred to Southern Mississippi (2021-23) making 90 tackles (49 solos, 41 assists), 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 25 games for the Eagles. In 2023, he made 35 tackles (17 solos, 18 assists), five tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 12 games. He was named an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention in 2021.
Savion Jackson is six foot two and weighs 290 pounds. The 25-year-old from Clayton, North Carolina, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made four tackles (1 solo, 3 assists) in two preseason games. The Chargers released him on August 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Jackson played five seasons at N.C. State (2019-23) making 106 tackles (37 solos, 69 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 48 games for the Wolfpack.
Alex Nobles is six foot two and weighs 245 pounds. The 25-year-old from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, attended the Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp in 2024.
Collegiately, Nobles played two seasons at North Carolina (2020-21) making two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in 10 games for the Tar Heels. Then, Nobles transferred to Florida International (2022-23) making 74 tackles (50 solo, 24 assists), 16 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 23 games for the Panthers.
In 2023, Nobles made 41 tackles (29 solo, 12 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games. He had a career-high eight tackles against UConn.
Shaun Peterson Jr. is six foot three and weighs 240 pounds. The 25-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he did not play in the preseason and was released on September 5, 2024.
Collegiately, Peterson Jr. played five seasons at Florida International University (2018-22) as a running back and linebacker making 28 tackles (15 solos, 13 assists), eight tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 105 carries for 478 yards, four touchdowns, and three catches for 22 yards in 39 games for the Panthers.
Then, he transferred to the University of Central Florida in 2023 making 14 tackles (10 solos, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Knights.
