The Birmingham Stallions released linebacker Maalik Hall, defensive back Chris Jackson, and kicker Chris Blewitt on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Maalik Hall is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. The 25-year-old from Athens, Texas, signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023, but was placed on injured reserve and later released on February 16, 2024.
Then, Hall signed with the Birmingham Stallions as a free agent on March 14, 2024, but was released on March 22, 2024. Hall re-signed with the Stallions on May 1, 2024. He did not play for the Stallions in 2024. The Stallions re-signed Hall on October 22, 2024.
Collegiately, Hall played five seasons at Southeast Oklahoma State (2017-22) with 154 tackles (79 solos, 75 assists), 24.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one blocked punt, and one punt return for 17 yards in 43 games for the Savage Storm. In 2021, Hall was named the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-GAC, and D2football.com top-100 players list.
Chris Jackson is five foot ten and weighs 193 pounds. The 26-year-old from Minneapolis, Minnesota, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on December 19, 2023. He made 17 tackles (13 solos, 4 assists) in four games in 2024 before being placed on injured reserve and missed the rest of the season. The Stallions re-signed Jackson on August 29, 2024.
Jackson was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round (243rd pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the Tennessee Titans making 59 tackles (44 solos, 15 assists), two tackles for loss, and five pass breakups in 24 games, of which six were starts.
Collegiately, Jackson played four seasons at Marshall University (2016-19) making 189 tackles (110 solos, 79 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, seven interceptions for 200 yards, one touchdown, 45 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 49 games for the Thundering Herd.
Chris Blewitt is five foot nine and weighs 195 pounds. The 29-year-old from Alexandria, Virginia, was drafted by the Birmingham Stallions in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft. In 2024, he had 18 kickoffs for 1,245 yards and converted 8 of 9 field goals (88.9%) with a long of 46 yards in three games for the Stallions in 2024 before being placed on the injured reserve list and missed the rest of the season. The Stallions re-signed Blewitt on August 22, 2024.
Blewitt attended a rookie minicamp with the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Chicago Bears in 2019. In 2021, he signed with the Washington Football Team and appeared in two games converting one of four field goals (40%) with a long of 52 yards, making two extra points, and had six kickoffs for 335 yards. After Washington, Blewitt signed with the Cleveland Browns.
Then, the Pittsburgh Maulers signed Blewitt as a free agent on April 27, 2023. Blewitt converted 21 of 25 field goals (84%) with a long of 54 yards and made 10 of 13 extra points in eight games for the Maulers in 2023. In the playoffs, Blewitt made six of eight field goals (75%) with a long of 59 yards and made three extra points.
Collegiately, Blewitt played four seasons at Pittsburgh (2013-16) making 55 of 79 field goals (70%) with a long of 56 yards, made 198 extra points, and 306 kickoffs for 18,976 yards with 119 touchbacks and six kicks out of bounds in 52 games for the Panthers.
He is the Panthers all-time leader in Kick Scoring Leader (363), Field Goals Leader (55 FGs), Extra Points Leader (198 PATs), and Points Scored (363). He was named an ACC Honorable Mention in 2016.
