The B.C. Lions signed running back Alexander (Zander) Horvath on Friday.
Alexander (Zander) Horvath is six foot three and weighs 230 pounds. The 26-year-old from Mishawaka, Indiana, was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round (260th pick) of the 2022 NFL Draft.
In 2022, Horvath had four carries for eight yards and five catches for eight yards in 15 games. In 2023, he had one carry for two yards and one tackle (1 assist) in three preseason games. The Chargers released him on August 30, 2023.
Next, Horvath spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and the Miami Dolphins. The Miami Dolphins signed him on August 19, 2024. In 2024, he had three carries for five yards and one catch for seven yards in one preseason game for the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins released him on August 27, 2024.
Collegiately, Horvath played four seasons at Purdue University (2018-21) with 268 carries for 1,181 yards, eight touchdowns, 68 catches for 592 yards, one touchdown, four kick returns for 72 yards, one punt return for -2 yards, five tackles (5 solos), and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Boilermakers. He was named Third Team All-Big Ten in 2020.
