The Hamilton Tiger-Cats added Tom Flaxman to the front office staff as a national scout for the 2025 season on Friday. In 2024, Flaxman was the associate coach, offensive coordinator, and recruiting at Acadia University.
“I have known Tom for many years and even had the opportunity to coach him as a young football player. He is a great man and his knowledge of Canadian University Football and Canadian talent in general will be a tremendous asset to our front office. We’re excited to have him as a part of our team,” said Tiger-Cats General Manager Ted Goveia.
As a player, Flaxman played three seasons at Acadia University (2005-07) with 98 carries for 482 yards, five touchdowns, 13 catches for 133 yards, and 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists) in 16 games for the Axemen. He helped them win back-to-back AUS championships in 2005 and 2006.
After his playing career, Flaxman spent four years in Acadia as a running backs coach, special teams coach, and co-offensive coordinator from 2008 to 2011 helping the Axemen win the AUS championship in 2011.
In 2012, he was the offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at the University of Toronto before leaving for Western University in 2014 as a linebackers coach. He also spent time as a director of football operations and offensive coordinator at McMaster University before joining Queen’s University in 2019. At Queen’s University, Flaxman helped Gaels appear in back-to-back Yates Cups in 2021 and 2022.
