The Michigan Panthers re-signed linebacker Frank Ginda and wide receiver Trey Quinn announced his retirement on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Frank Ginda is six foot and weighs 225 pounds. The 27-year-old from Los Banos, California, made 34 tackles (20 solos, 14 assists) and three tackles for loss in six games for the Panthers in 2024. The Panthers released him on August 18, 2024, and he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers on August 19, 2024. Ginda made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in one preseason game. The Chargers released him on August 27, 2024.
Ginda signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He later spent time with the Miami Dolphins, San Diego Fleet (AAF), New Orleans Saints, and the New York Guardians (XFL).
The Michigan Panthers drafted Ginda in the 30th round (244th pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. Ginda made 90 tackles (42 solos, 48 assists), six tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in ten games for the Panthers in 2022.
In 2023, Ginda made 104 tackles (48 solos, 56 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and five pass breakups in ten games for the Panthers in 2023.
In the playoffs, Ginda made 11 tackles (6 solos, 5 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack against the Pittsburgh Maulers. Ginda was named USFL Defensive Player of the Year and made the USFL All-Star Team.
After the season, Ginda signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He played two preseason games with 12 tackles (3 solos, 9 assists). After he was released by the Falcons on August 29, 2023, Ginda re-signed with the Panthers on October 1, 2023. Ginda had two stints on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad in 2023. He re-signed with the Panthers on February 14, 2024.
Collegiately, Ginda played three seasons at San Jose State (2015-17) making 352 tackles (186 solos, 166 assists), 29 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one interception, and seven pass breakups in 38 games for the Spartans. He was named First Team All-Mountain West in 2017.
Trey Quinn is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 29-year-old from Lake Charles, Louisiana, re-signed with the Panthers on January 20, 2024. In 2024, he made 27 catches for 239 yards and one touchdown in 10 games.
The Washington Redskins drafted Quinn in the seventh round (256th pick) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played two seasons in Washington making 35 catches for 273 yards, two touchdowns, and 20 punt returns for 130 yards in 15 games.
Then, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 with one punt return for six yards. After Jacksonville, Quinn spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos.
The Michigan Panthers signed Quinn on December 31, 2022. In 2023, he made 37 catches for 438 yards, four touchdowns, completed one pass for 19 yards, and two punt returns for eight yards in ten games.
In the North Division playoffs against the Pittsburgh Maulers, Quinn made five catches for 104 yards and one touchdown. After the season, Quinn signed with the Detroit Lions. He played one preseason game against the New York Giants with one catch for eight yards. He would later re-sign with the Lions and spent most of the season on the practice squad. The Lions released him on October 10, 2023.
Collegiately, Quinn played two seasons at LSU (2014-15) making 22 catches for 276 yards, and two carries for 11 yards in 25 games for the Tigers. Then, Quinn transferred to Southern Methodist University (2016-17). He had to sit out in 2016 due to the NCAA transfer rules.
In 2017, he made 114 catches for 1,236 yards, 13 touchdowns, and completed 1 of 2 passes (50%) for 34 yards, one interception, five kick returns for 113 yards, and five punt returns for 13 yards in 13 games for the Mustangs.
