The Memphis Showboats signed running back Jacob Kibodi, defensive tackle Brandon Matterson, and defensive back Mark Gilbert on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Jacob Kibodi is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 26-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he had 19 carries for 71 yards, two touchdowns, and four catches for 30 yards in three preseason games. The Saints released him on December 3, 2024.

Next, the Cleveland Browns signed Kibodi on December 18, 2024. He played one regular season game against the Baltimore Ravens with five carries for 24 yards, and one catch for 15 yards. He became a free agent after the 2024 season.

Collegiately, Kibodi played two seasons at Texas A&M (2017-18) 14 carries for 147 yards, one touchdown, one catch for no yards, and one tackle (1 assist) in five games for the Aggies. Next, he transferred to Incarnate Word in 2020 but the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

Then, he transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2021-23) with 166 carries for 898 yards, seven touchdowns, 12 catches for 95 yards, one touchdown, and one kick return for 17 yards in nine games for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Brandon Matterson is six foot two and weighs 295 pounds. The 25-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. The Broncos released him on August 2, 2024. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him on August 19, 2024.

He did not play in the preseason and was released on August 27, 2024. The Calgary Stampeders signed Matterson on September 29, 2024. He spent three days on the practice squad before the Stampeders released him on October 2, 2024.

Collegiately, Matterson played six seasons at the University of Texas-San Antonio (2018-23) making 101 tackles (45 solos, 56 assists), 15.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass breakup in 59 games for the Roadrunners. In 2023, Matterson made 14 tackles (7 solo, 7 assists), six tackles for loss, five sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games.

Mark Gilbert is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. The 27-year-old from Fayetteville, North Carolina, signed with the Birmingham Stallions on January 19, 2024. In 2024, Gilbert made 26 tackles (21 solos, 5 assists), one interception, five pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in seven games when the Stallions won their third consecutive championship over the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0. He became a free agent after the season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Gilbert as an undrafted free agent on May 7, 2021. In 2021, he made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist) in four preseason games. The Detroit Lions signed Gilbert off of Pittsburgh’s practice squad on October 13, 2021. Gilbert made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in games. In 2022, he made six tackles (4 solos, 2 assists) in three preseason games. The Lions released him on August 30, 2022.

The Pittsburgh Maulers signed Gilbert on March 25, 2023. In 2023, he made 32 tackles (29 solos, 3 assists), two tackles for loss, four interceptions for 29 yards, and 15 pass breakups in ten games. He was named to the All-USFL Team. After the season, Gilbert signed with the Miami Dolphins on August 4, 2023. He played one preseason game with one tackle (1 solo) against the Atlanta Falcons. The Dolphins released him on August 18, 2023.

Collegiately, Gilbert played five seasons at Duke (2016-20) making 65 tackles (44 solos, 21 assists), five tackles for loss, seven interceptions, and 24 pass breakups in 29 games for the Blue Devils. He was named First Team All-ACC in 2017.
