
The St. Louis Battlehawks signed linebacker John Petrishen and released linebacker Drew Lewis on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.
John Petrishen is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 28-year-old from Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 8, 2024. In 2024, he made one tackle in two preseason games. The Blue Bombers released him on June 2, 2024. was on the B.C. Lions practice squad in 2023, and was released by the Lions on May 3, 2024
Petrishen attended the Buffalo Bills and Washington Commanders rookie minicamps in 2023. The B.C. Lions signed Petrishen on December 7, 2023. In 2023, he appeared in two preseason games recording no stats. The spent the 2023 season on the practice squad and was released on May 3, 2024.
Collegiately, Petrishen played two seasons at Penn State (2017-18) making eight tackles (5 solos, 3 assists), and one tackle for loss in 17 games for the Nittany Lions.
Then, he transferred to the University of Pittsburgh (2019-21) making 88 tackles (35 solos, 53 assists), 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions for 35 yards, one touchdown, four pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 32 games for the Panthers. He was an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2021.
Drew Lewis is six foot two and weighs 229 pounds. The 28-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks on March 5, 2024, but was released on March 22, 2024. Lewis re-signed with the Battlehawks on May 7, 2024. In 2024, he made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in two games. The Battlehawks re-signed Lewis on December 16, 2024.
Lewis signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He also had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. Then, the Houston Gamblers (USFL) drafted Lewis in the 31st round (251st pick) of the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 13 tackles (6 solos, 7 assists) in eight games.
In 2023, Lewis signed with the San Antonio Brahmas but was later traded to the Houston Roughnecks on March 23, 2023. He made 24 tackles (13 solos, 11 assists) and one sack in eight games. In the South Divisional Semifinals against the Arlington Renegades, Lewis made one tackle (1 assist).
Collegiately, Lewis played three seasons at Colorado (2016-18) making 167 tackles (104 solos, 63 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception, and eight pass breakups in 38 games for the Buffaloes.
