The Edmonton Elks signed linebacker Clayton Isbell on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Clayton Isbell is six foot two and weighs 220 pounds. The 24-year-old from Naperville, Illinois, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he made six tackles (4 solos, 2 assists) in one preseason game.

The Panthers released him on August 14, 2024. The New York Giants signed Isbell on August 20, 2024. He made four tackles (1 solo, 3 assists) in one preseason game. The Giants released him on August 25, 2024.

Collegiately, Isbell played three seasons at Illinois State (2019-21) making 101 tackles (64 solos, 37 assists), seven tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions for 65 yards, one touchdown, 11 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 28 games for the Redbirds.

He was named Second Team All-MVFC, Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team, and HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-America.

Next, he transferred to Utah in 2022 making 16 tackles (11 solos, 5 assists), and half a tackle for loss in 14 games for the Utes. Then, he transferred to Coastal Carolina in 2023 making 89 tackles (49 solos, 40 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions for 29 yards, and eight pass breakups in 13 games for the Chanticleers. He was named Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference.
