The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed linebacker Tyler Murray on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Tyler Murray is six foot one and weighs 227 pounds. The 25-year-old from Jacksonville, Florida, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. In 2023, he made 10 tackles (7 solos, 3 assists) in three preseason games. The Bengals released him on September 5, 2023.

Next, Murray signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 15, 2023. In 2024, he did not play in the preseason due to an undisclosed injury. The Steelers released him on August 12, 2024.

Collegiately, Murray played two seasons at Troy (2017-18) making 64 tackles (37 solos, 27 assists), eight tackles for loss, three sacks, four interceptions for 57 yards, nine pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 26 games for the Trojans. He was named Third Team All-Sun Belt in 2018.

Next, he transferred to Charlotte (2020-21) making 128 tackles (65 solos, 63 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions for 45 yards, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 18 games for the 49ers. He was named a two-time All-Conference USA Honorable Mention.

Then, Murray transferred to Memphis in 2022 making 57 tackles (29 solos, 28 assists), four tackles for loss, two interceptions, and four pass breakups in 12 games for the Tigers. In the 2022 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl against Utah State, Murray made seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists), and one tackle for loss helping the Tigers beat the Aggies 38-10.
