The Saskatchewan Roughriders and defensive back Rolan Milligan Jr. agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2026 season and signed wide receiver Wayne Ruby on Friday.
Rolan Milligan Jr. is five foot eleven and weighs 200 pounds. The 30-year-old from Lake Wales, Florida, made 71 tackles, 20 tackles on special teams, and eight interceptions in 16 games on his way to being named to the All-CFL Team, CFL West All-Star, and the Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
The Dallas Cowboys signed Milligan Jr. as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2016. He also spent time with the Detroit Lions and the Indianapolis Colts. Milligan Jr. played 11 games with the Colts in 2019 making 15 tackles (11 solos, 4 assists), and one quarterback hit.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Milligan Jr. as a free agent on October 21, 2021. In 2023, he made 17 tackles, three tackles on special teams, and two interceptions in four games. In four seasons, Milligan Jr. has made 164 tackles, 35 tackles on special teams, two sacks, 11 interceptions, and one forced fumble in 38 games for the Roughriders.
Collegiately, Milligan Jr. played one season at Reedley College in 2013 making 44 tackles (33 solos, 11 assists), three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, three interceptions for 116 yards, and eight pass breakups in nine games for the Tigers.
Next, he transferred to the University of Birmingham-Alabama in 2014 making 54 tackles (37 solos, 17 assists), four tackles for loss, two sacks, and six pass breakups in ten games for the Blazers.
Then, he transferred to Toledo in 2015 making 48 tackles (34 solos, 14 assists), four tackles for loss, two interceptions for 36 yards, one touchdown, five pass breakups, and three forced fumbles in 11 games for the Rockets.
Wayne Ruby is six foot one and weighs 190 pounds. The 24-year-old from Pembroke Pines, Florida, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. He worked out for the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Collegiately, Ruby played five seasons at Mount Union (2019-23) making 362 catches for 5,624 yards, 74 touchdowns, five punt returns for 84 yards, and two tackles (2 solos) in 56 games for the Purple Raiders. In 2023, he made 75 catches for 1,124 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five punt returns for 84 yards in 12 games.
Ruby was named a four-time First Team All-OVC (2020-23), two-time Associated Press First Team Division III All-American, two-time D3football.com First Team All-American, and a two-time OAC Ed Sherman Receiver of the Year.
