The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are set to sign linebacker/defensive back Reggie Stubblefield to a three-year contract through the 2027 season when free agency starts next Tuesday according to TSN reporter Dave Naylor.
Reggie Stubblefield is six foot and weighs 195 pounds. The 26-year-old from Arlington, Texas, made four tackles, and one tackle on special teams in one game before a Torn ACL ended his 2024 season.
The D.C. Defenders drafted Stubblefield in the second round (10th pick) in the 2022 XFL Draft. The Defenders released him on February 9, 2023.
The Montreal Alouettes signed Stubblefield on March 1, 2023. He played one preseason game for Montreal making four tackles against the Ottawa Redblacks. The Alouettes released him on June 4, 2023, and later re-signed him on June 26, 2023.
In 2023, he made 38 tackles, three tackles on special teams, three sacks, two interceptions, and one forced fumble in 13 games helping the Alouettes beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 110th Grey Cup. In the Grey Cup, Stubblefield made five tackles, and one sack.
Collegiately, Stubblefield played four seasons at Prairie View A&M (2017-20) making 117 tackles (67 solos, 50 assists), 11 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 26 yards, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks, and two punt returns for 13 yards in 20 games for the Panthers.
Then, he transferred to Kansas State in 2021 making 34 tackles (27 solos, 7 assists), seven tackles for loss, one sack, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 12 games for the Wildcats. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 by the Coaches in 2021.
