The Toronto Argonauts are set to sign defensive lineman Celestin Haba and defensive back Darrius Bratton when free agency starts next Tuesday according to The Canadian Press writer Dan Ralph.
Celestin Haba is six foot two and weighs 250 pounds. The 25-year-old from Columbia, South Carolina, signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 30, 2023. In 2023, Haba made 12 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble in eight games. In 2024, he made six tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble in 10 games. He missed most of the season with a knee injury.
Collegiately, Haba played one season at Scottsdale Community College in 2018 making 81 tackles (54 solos, 27 assists), 27.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 11 pass breakups in ten games for the Artichokes. In 2019, he transferred to Western Kentucky but did not record any stats.
Then, Haba transferred to Texas A&M-Commerce (2021-22) making 39 tackles (15 solos, 24 assists), 13 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one interception for 41 yards, one touchdown, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 16 games for the Lions. He was named First Team All-Southland Conference in 2022.
Darrius Bratton is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 27-year-old from Roanoke, Virginia, made 44 tackles, and four interceptions in 17 games for the Edmonton Elks in 2024.
Bratton attended the New Orleans Rookie minicamp in 2023. Next, the Edmonton Elks signed Bratton on May 17, 2023. In 2023, he made 44 tackles, and one interception in 18 games.
Collegiately, Bratton played five seasons at Virginia (2017-22) making 77 tackles (54 solos, 23 assists), one tackle for loss, half a sack, 14 pass breakups, and one punt return for no yards in 52 games, of which 14 were starts were the Cavaliers. In 2022, he made 22 tackles (10 solos, 12 assists), half tackle for loss, and half a sack in nine games for the Cavaliers, of which three were starts.
