The Ottawa Redblacks are set to sign wide receiver Eugene Lewis when free agency starts next Tuesday according to 3DownNation writer Justin Dunk.
Eugene Lewis is six foot and weighs 200 pounds. The 31-year-old from Norristown, Pennsylvania, made 74 catches for 1,070 yards, 10 touchdowns, one carry for 15 yards, one touchdown, and six tackles in 18 games for the Edmonton Elks in 2024. Lewis was named a CFL West All-Star.
Lewis attended the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamps in 2017. The Montreal Alouettes signed Lewis on June 12, 2017. Lewis played five seasons in Montreal making 276 catches for 4,347 yards, 28 touchdowns, five carries for nine yards, one touchdown, one kick return for 15 yards, 12 tackles, and one forced fumble in 67 games. Lewis was named a two-time CFL All-Star and a three-time CFL East All-Star.
The Edmonton Elks signed Lewis on February 14, 2023. In 2023, he made 48 catches for 844 yards, three touchdowns, one kick return for no yards, and three tackles in 12 games.
Collegiately, Lewis played three seasons at Penn State (2013-15) making 90 catches for 1,181 yards, eight touchdowns, one carry for one yard, 11 kick returns for 491 yards, completing 1 of 2 passes (50%) for 32 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 assist) in 37 games for the Nittany Lions. Then, he transferred to Oklahoma in 2016 making 32 catches for 388 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games for the Sooners.
