
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed linebacker Trevor Hoyte to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Thursday.
Trevor Hoyte is six foot two and weighs 218 pounds. The 26-year-old from Gatineau, Quebec, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 17, 2024. In 2024, he made 16 tackles and 11 tackles on special teams in 18 games.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Hoyte in the fourth round (33rd pick) of the 2021 CFL Draft. In 2021, he made 20 tackles and six tackles on special teams in seven games. A year later, he made 14 tackles, and eight tackles on special teams in 11 games when the Argonauts beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 109th Grey Cup.
In 2023, he made one tackle and 17 tackles on special teams in 18 games. Hoyte played three seasons in Toronto making 35 tackles and 31 tackles on special teams in 49 games. He became a free agent after the 2024 season.
Collegiately, Hoyte played for the John Abbott College Islanders before transferring to Carleton University (2017-19) making 75 tackles (56 solos, 19 assists), six tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions for 34 yards, and three pass blocks in 22 games for the Ravens.
