The Ottawa Redblacks are set to sign offensive lineman Peter Godber when free agency starts next Tuesday according to 3DownNation writer Justin Dunk.
Peter Godber is six foot three and weighs 300 pounds. The 30-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, started 12 games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2024. He missed most of the season with an ankle injury.
Saskatchewan’s offense averaged 26.6 points per game, 355.7 net offense per game, 89.6 rushing yards per game, 278.8 passing yards per game, 45 touchdowns, and 35 sacks allowed finishing 9-8-1 in the regular season. They were eliminated in the Western Final against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The B.C. Lions drafted Godber in the first round (3rd pick) in the 2018 CFL Draft. He played three seasons in B.C. playing 31 games. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Godber on February 14, 2023. In 2023, the Roughriders finished eighth in average points per game (20.3), sixth in offensive touchdowns (34), fifth in average net offense (346.4), eighth in average rushing yards (84.4), third in average passing yards (280.4), and seventh in sacks allowed (54).
Collegiately, Godber played five seasons at Rice University (2013-17) playing left guard and right guard in 48 games, of which 35 were starts. In 2017, Rice averaged 16.25 points per game, 187 rushing yards per game, 144.83 passing yards per game, 331.8 total yards per game, 27 touchdowns, and allowed 29 sacks finishing 1-11 for the season. He helped the Owls win the Conference USA title in 2013 and the Hawaii Bowl in 2014.
