Report: Saskatchewan Roughriders to sign offensive lineman Philippe Gagnon

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are set to sign offensive lineman Philippe Gagnon when free agency starts next Tuesday according to 3DownNation reporter John Hodge.

Philippe Gagnon is six foot four and weighs 311 pounds. The 32-year-old from L’Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, started 18 games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2024. In 2024, Montreal averaged 25.3 points per game (5th), 332.9 net offense per game (9th), 84.3 rushing yards per game (8th), 264.4 passing yards per game (7th), and 46 touchdowns (4th).

The Montreal Alouettes drafted Gagnon in the first round (2nd pick) of the 2016 CFL Draft. He played 29 games for the Alouettes in his first stint before signing with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2019. He played 16 games for the Redblacks before he was released on March 16, 2020.

The Montreal Alouettes signed Gagnon on March 19, 2020. He played 46 games for Montreal. In 2023, played 11 regular season games and three playoff games.

Montreal’s offense finished seventh in offensive points per game (20.6), fourth in touchdowns (43), sixth in average net offensive yards (329.7), fifth in average rushing yards (102.2), sixth in average passing yards (250.0), and eighth in sacks allowed (61) on their way to winning the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Collegiately, Gagnon played four seasons at Laval University (2012-15) helping the Rouge et Or win two Vanier Cup championships.
