The Calgary Stampeders signed defensive back Marloshawn Franklin Jr. on Friday.

Marloshawn Franklin Jr. is six foot and weighs 185 pounds. The 28-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, signed with the Rhein Fire (ELF) on June 27, 2024. In 2024, he made 24 tackles (16 solos, 8 assists), two interceptions for 23 yards, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in seven games.

In the 2024 ELF playoffs, he made 14 tackles (10 solos, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for 58 yards, and two pass breakups helping the Fire win their second straight ELF championship over the Vienna Vikings.

Franklin Jr. attended training camp with the B.C. Lions in 2019. The Montreal Alouettes signed him in 2020 but the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

In 2021, Franklin signed with the Hamburg Sea Devils of the European League of Football. He made 24 tackles (13 solos, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in six games of which five were starts.

Then, Franklin Jr. returned to the CFL signing with the Ottawa Redblacks on May 29, 2022. Then, Franklin Jr. signed with the Edmonton Elks on May 1, 2023. In 2023, he made 28 tackles and one interception in eight games.

Marloshawn Franklin Jr. played two preseason games for the Elks in 2024 making eight tackles and two tackles for loss before he was released on June 1, 2024.

Collegiately, Franklin played two seasons at Mesa Community College (2014-15) making 41 tackles (30 solos, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, 12 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in ten games for the Thunderbirds. He was named first-team All-Western States Football League and second-team All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference.

After Mesa Community College, Franklin transferred to California (2016-17), playing two seasons making 60 tackles (46 solos, 14 assists), two tackles for loss, one sack, and nine pass breakups in 22 games for the Golden Bears.
