The Edmonton Elks signed defensive back Willie Roberts on Friday.
Willie Roberts is five foot eleven and weighs 190 pounds. The 24-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on August 9, 2024. In 2024, he made one tackle (1 solo) in three preseason games. The Seahawks released him on August 26, 2024.
Collegiately, Roberts played three seasons at Stephen F. Austin (2019-21) making 85 tackles (61 solos, 24 assists), three tackles for loss, half a sack, six interceptions for 58 yards, one touchdown, 27 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two forced fumbles in 34 games for the Lumberjacks.
Then, Roberts transferred to Louisiana Tech (2022-23) making 67 tackles (51 solos, 16 assists), half tackle for loss, five interceptions for 18 yards, one touchdown, 24 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Bulldogs.
In 2023, he made 38 tackles (28 solos, 10 assists), half tackle for loss, one interception, 13 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 12 games. He was a 2023 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist.
