The Ottawa Redblacks are set to sign defensive back Tunde Adeleke when free agency starts next Tuesday according to 3DownNation reporter Justin Dunk.
Tunde Adeleke is five foot ten and weighs 208 pounds. The 29-year-old from Lagos, Nigeria, signed with the Toronto Argonauts on February 13, 2024. In 2024, he made 15 tackles and one tackle on special teams in 10 games. In the 111th Grey Cup, he made two tackles helping the Argonauts beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 41-24 to win their second Grey Cup title in three seasons.
The Calgary Stampeders drafted Adeleke in the third round (25th pick) of the 2017 CFL Draft. He played two seasons in Calgary making 45 tackles, 24 tackles on special teams, three pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one touchdown, two sacks, six kick returns for 119 yards, 30 punt returns for 383 yards, and two touchdowns in 29 games. He helped the Stampeders win the Grey Cup in 2018.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Adeleke as a free agent on February 12, 2019. In 2023, he made 31 tackles and three tackles on special teams in ten games.
He played four seasons in Hamilton with 195 tackles, 10 tackles on special teams, one forced fumble, three sacks, five interceptions for 35 yards, two missed field goal returns for 52 yards, and four punt returns for 27 yards in 58 games. He was named a CFL All-Star in 2019 and a two-time CFL East All-Star in 2019 and 2021.
Collegiately, Adeleke played four seasons at Carleton University (2013-16) making 150 tackles (104 solos, 46 assists), four tackles for loss, four interceptions, ten pass breakups, 44 kick returns for 1,152 yards, 122 punt returns for 1,950 yards, and nine touchdowns in 31 games for the Ravens.
