B.C. Lions re-sign defensive lineman Nathan Cherry through 2025

The B.C. Lions and defensive lineman Nathan Cherry agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Tuesday.

Nathan Cherry is six foot three and weighs 245 pounds. The 25-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, made one tackle in one game in 2024.

The B.C. Lions drafted Cherry in the first round (3rd pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Cherry made seven tackles and one sack in 17 games, of which seven were starts. In 2023, he made seven tackles and one sack in ten games before he suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Collegiately, Cherry played five seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2016-19, 2021) making 45 tackles (38 solos, 18 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, ten sacks, and one fumble recovery in 41 games for the Huskies. He was named a First Team All-Canadian in 2021.
