The Edmonton Elks signed defensive back Jerrell Cummings on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Jerrell Cummings is five foot eleven and weighs 195 pounds. The 23-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the fifth round (39th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Cummings played two preseason games recording no stats. The Argonauts released him on June 2, 2024.
Collegiately, Cummings played three seasons at Simon Fraser University (2019, 2021-22) making 106 tackles (72 solos, 34 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions for four yards, 35 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 28 games for the Red Leafs. He was named a Canada West All-Star.
Then, Cummings transferred to the University of British Columbia (2023-24) making 51 tackles (31 solos, 20 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception for 15 yards, and one pass breakup in 15 games for the Thunderbirds.
