The Calgary Stampeders re-signed offensive lineman Kyle Saxelid and signed defensive lineman Miles Brown and defensive back Godfrey Onyeka on Wednesday.

Kyle Saxelid is six foot eight and weighs 320 pounds. The 29-year-old from Elk Grove, California, signed with the Calgary Stampeders on May 1, 2024. In 2024, he played five games.

Calgary’s offense averaged 21.5 points per game, 354.1 net offense per game, 108.6 rushing yards per game, 260.1 passing yards per game, 40 touchdowns, and allowed 30 sacks in 2024.

Saxelid played for the Nebraska Danger (IFL) in 2018 before being traded that same year to the Cedar Rapids River Kings. The Edmonton Elks drafted Saxelid in the second round (12th pick) of the 2019 CFL Draft. He played 29 games in two seasons, of which 16 were starts.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats acquired Saxelid, along with linebacker Grant McDonald, and the second overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft from the Edmonton Elks for the 28th pick in the 2022 CFL National Draft, and the ninth overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft. Saxelid played nine games for the Ticats in 2022, of which two were starts.

In 2023, Saxelid played two games. He missed the majority of the season with a knee injury. Hamilton’s offense finished seventh in points per game (22.7), fifth in offensive points per game (20.9), fifth in offensive touchdowns (35), fourth in net offense per game (352.0), seventh in rushing yards per game (96.7), and four in sacks allowed (46).

Collegiately, Saxelid played four seasons at UNLV (2014-17) playing 48 games, of which 39 were starts for the Rebels. In 2016, he was part of an offensive line that helped the UNLV rushing attack to 241.5 yards per game, which ranked 16th in the nation and was the program’s highest average since 1979.

Miles Brown is six foot two and weighs 320 pounds. The 27-year-old from Cheverly, Maryland, made 13 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble in 16 games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2024.

The Arizona Cardinals signed Brown as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2019. In 2019, he made four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in nine games. He also spent time with the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Brown as a free agent on February 25, 2022. In 2022, Brown made 21 tackles and two sacks in 13 games. In 2023, he made 22 tackles and four sacks in 12 games.

Collegiately, Brown played four seasons at Wofford (2015-18) making 174 tackles (92 solos, 82 assists), 38 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 50 games for the Terriers. He was named First Team All-Southern Conference by the media and coaches in 2018.

Godfrey Onyeka is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 30-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 6, 2024. In 2024, he made 10 tackles on special teams in 18 games.

The Edmonton Eskimos drafted Onyeka in the second round (10th pick) in the 2018 CFL Draft. In 2018, he made two tackles in one game, and in 2019 made three tackles and 13 tackles on special teams in 12 games.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Onyeka as a free agent on February 9, 2021. In 2021, he made 24 tackles and seven tackles on special teams in eight games. In 2022, Onyeka made two tackles and two tackles on special teams in two games. In 2023, made one tackle on special teams in four games. He missed part of the regular season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle.

Collegiately, Onyeka played four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University (2014-17) making 186 tackles (161 solos, 53 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, ten interceptions for 90 yards, one touchdown, one pass breakup, six forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 42 games for the Golden Hawks. He was named a three-time U Sports First Team All-Canadian and a member of the 2016 Yates Cup championship team.
