The Helvetic Mercenaries signed wide receiver Keelan Cole on Friday.
Keelan Cole is six foot one and weighs 194 pounds. The 31-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent on May 1, 2017. He played four seasons in Jacksonville making 159 catches for 2,242 yards, 12 touchdowns, two carries for eight yards, one kick return for 11 yards, one tackle (1 solo), four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 64 games, of which 23 were starts. He became a free agent after the 2020 season.
Next, the New York Jets signed Cole on March 20, 2021. In 2021, he made 28 catches for 449 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (2 solos) in 15 games, of which 11 were starts. Then, he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on May 12, 2022.
In 2022, he made 10 catches for 141 yards, one touchdown, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 14 games, of which three were starts. In 2023, he made 12 catches for 98 yards, one touchdown, and one punt return for two yards in three preseason games. He spent the 2023 season on the practice squad and became a free agent after the 2023 season.
Collegiately, Cole played five seasons at Kentucky Wesleyan (2012-16) making 263 catches for 4,990 yards, 61 touchdowns, 17 carries for 118 yards, one touchdown, 55 kick returns for 1,279 yards, four touchdowns, 15 punt returns for 153 yards, and 15 tackles (12 solos, 3 assists) in 45 games for the Panthers.
He was named First Team All-Super Region Four by Gazette, Third Team All-American by Associated Press Little College, First Team All-American by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, Second Team All-Super Region Four by Beyond Sports Network, and won the Kentucky Wesleyan’s Most Valuable Player.
