The Memphis Showboats signed offensive lineman J.D. DiRenzo on Friday according to the UFL Transactions page.
J.D. DiRenzo is six foot six and weighs 315 pounds. The 26-year-old from Hammonton, New Jersey, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2023. In 2023, he played three regular season games. In 2024, DiRenzo did not play in the preseason due to an injury. The Panthers released him on August 13, 2024.
Collegiately, DiRenzo played four seasons at Sacred Heart University (2017-20) playing right tackle. In the short 2020-21 spring season, Sacred Heart averaged 26.40 points per game, 207.8 rushing yards per game, 175.60 passing yards per game, 383.4 total yards per game, 18 touchdowns, and allowed 14 sacks finishing 3-2 for the season. DiRenzo was named a two-time First Team All-NEC, Second Team All-ECAC, and First Team All-American by AFCA.
Then, he transferred to Rutgers in 2022 playing left guard and left tackle in 12 games. In 2022, Rutgers averaged 17.42 points per game, 128.2 rushing yards per game, 153.92 passing yards per game, 282.1 total yards per game, 25 touchdowns, and allowed 26 sacks finishing 4-8 for the season. He was named the team’s MVP after the season and was invited to play in the Hula Bowl.
DiRenzo attended St. Joseph’s High School in Hammonton, New Jersey, where he was part of the Wildcats Group I State Championship teams in 2013, 2014, and 2015. He was named First Team All-Conference, Third Team All-State, and All-South Jersey.
