Birmingham Stallions sign OL Keaton Sutherland, release OL O’Shea Dugas

The Birmingham Stallions signed offensive lineman Keaton Sutherland and released offensive lineman O’Shea Dugas on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Keaton Sutherland is six foot five and weighs 316 pounds. The 28-year-old from Flower Mound, Texas, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on January 8, 2024. In 2024, he played in three preseason games. The Jaguars released him on August 25, 2024.

The Cincinnati Bengals signed Sutherland as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2019. He also spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, San Francisco 49ers, and the Houston Texans. Sutherland played three regular season games for the Bengals (2019-21), and three games for the Dolphins in 2019.

Collegiately, Sutherland played four seasons at Texas A&M (2015-18) playing left guard and right guard in 43 games for the Aggies. In 2018, Texas A&M averaged 36 points per game, 219 rushing yards per game, 252.62 passing yards per game, 471.6 total yards per game, 57 touchdowns, and allowed 35 sacks finishing 9-4 for the season.

During his time there, Texas A&M went 2-2 in bowl games winning the Gator Bowl and the Texas Bowl. He was given the team’s Most Improved Offensive Lineman Award and the Senior Academic Award at the team’s annual banquet.

O’Shea Dugas is six foot four and weighs 335 pounds. The 27-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana, was released by the Stallions on March 22, 2024. Dugas re-signed with the Stallions on April 3, 2024. He played seven games, of which one was a start.

In 2024, Birmingham’s offense ranked first in total yards (3,475), rushing yards (1,347), second in passing yards (2,128), first in yards per game (347.5), and touchdowns (31) as the Stallions won the UFL Championship over the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0. The Brahams re-signed Dugas on August 14, 2024.

Dugas signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He would later spend time with the Edmonton Elks. The Birmingham Stallions drafted Dugas in the sixth round (49th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft.

In 2023, Dugas played nine games for the Stallions. The Stallions ranked second in passing yards (2,170), second in passing yards per game (217), first in completion percentage (67.4), first in passing touchdowns (21), third in rushing yards (1,156), third in rushing yards per game (115.6), and tied second in rushing touchdowns (11) helping the Stallions win its second straight USFL championship in 2023. He is a two-time USFL Champion.

Collegiately, Dugas played four seasons at Louisiana Tech (2015-18) playing left guard in 49 games, of which 43 were starts for the Bulldogs. He was named First Team All-C-USA in 2018 and two-time Second Team All-C-USA in 2016 and 2017.
