The Ottawa Redblacks re-signed defensive lineman Nigel Romick to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season on Tuesday.

Nigel Romick is six foot five and weighs 241 pounds. The 33-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ontario, re-signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on January 11, 2024. In 2024, he made six tackles on special teams in 12 games. He missed most of the season with a hamstring injury.

The Ottawa Redblacks drafted Romick in the third round (23rd pick) in the 2014 CFL Draft. In 2023, he made two tackles and six tackles on special teams in 16 games. In 10 seasons, Romick has made 17 tackles, 113 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 130 games. He helped the Redblacks win the 2016 Grey Cup championship over the Calgary Stampeders.

Collegiately, Romick played three seasons at St. Mary’s University (2011-13) making 78 tackles (47 tackles, 31 assists), 11 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and one forced fumble in 24 games for the Huskies.
